Annual Nelson Art Walk Offers Culture In The Mountains


Nelson Art WalkNelson is an eclectic community, located amongst the Selkirk Mountains in the Kootenay region of British Columbia. Nestled amongst picturesque mountains, wilderness and beautifully restored historic buildings, the city is has become an inspiring destination for artists over the decades. As an true artist’s haven, Nelson also boasts a vibrant cultural scene and a particularly well-loved art event each summer, the annual ‘Art Walk’.

Now in its 26th year, the Art Walk is an event produced by the Nelson & District Arts Council. Much to the delight of locals and tourists, the event promotes art displayed in businesses and shops throughout the city. This year, the Art Walk will launch on July 4th and run through to September 12th, 2014.

If you are in Nelson this Friday make sure you take the opportunity to enjoy the full spectrum of opening night activities. From 6:00pm to 9:00pm, the 400 block of Nelson’s historic Baker Street will be teeming with life as the community comes together to take in great art, peruse local shops, listen to live music, and so much more. In previous years, the event has even included Sand Sculptors, so there is no telling what wonderful things could be in store for spectators this year!
