All Prestige properties are Sustainable Tourism 2030 certified; with the majority of properties having achieved Silver status. This certification measures our success in meeting a wide range of sustainability criteria and indicators that are aligned with the UN World Tourism Organization and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. The rigorous certification process is conducted bi-yearly, requiring us to maintain and increase our high sustainability standards year over year. What Guests Can Do

Here is a list of ways for you to help the environment during your stay with us:

  • Turn up the temperature in warm weather and down in cool weather.   The average warm weather thermostat temperature is 25 degrees Celsius (78 degrees Fahrenheit).  The average cool weather thermostat temperature is 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit).  If you are leaving your room for a period of time, consider adjusting the room’s temperature to reduce the cooling or heating impact.
  • Avoid using the heating/air conditioning units with the windows open.  If the windows are open, the furnace and air conditioner are working overtime, thus using more energy.  Turn the thermostat off and enjoy the fresh air with the window open.
  • Turn off the water.  When you are brushing your teeth, washing your face, etc., turn off the faucet.  Turning the faucet off while brushing saves 50 gallons of water per week per person!
  • Unplug electronics.  You can save a lot of energy if you pull out those plugs; appliances constantly draw energy while plugged in.
  • Turn off the lights.  When not in your room, you are encouraged to turn off the lights.  Also, take advantage of opening your curtains and enjoying natural light through the large windows.  Turning off the lights can reduce 30% of your energy usage.
  • Take a shower. A 10-minute shower uses 20 gallons of water while the average bath uses 35-50 gallons.
  • Take your amenities. You are encouraged to take with you, any unused portions of the soap, shampoos, etc. for use at home.
  • Use the stairs. When possible, use the stairs instead of the elevator; it’s good for your health and the health of the environment.
  • Use the recycling bin.  Every room has garbage bins and a recycling bin. All cardboard, bottles and other recyclables can be placed in the bin for collection.
  • To use a towel more than once, hang it up.  To get a new towel, just place the old one in the tub.  If you would like fresh linens, place the card on the bed; but if you choose to use the same linens just leave the card on the side table and the bed will be made up beautifully with existing linens.
  • Buy local.  Check with the front desk for information on local shops and markets.  Buying local and organic saves transportation and fuel costs and supports this beautiful community.
